The Currituck and Camden boys soccer teams were the only two remaining schools within the Daily Advance’s coverage area that made it to the second round of the 2A and 1A NCHSAA men’s soccer playoffs.

Both were ousted on Tuesday night.

Currituck, No. 13 seed in the 2A east, traveled to No. 4 Roanoke Rapids. The Knights fell to the Yellow Jackets 4-2.

Roanoke Rapids (18-0-1) scored the game’s first two goals. Both goals were scored by senior Carson Neal.

Currituck (11-8-2) answered two minutes after the second goal with a header from sophomore Noah Cutler, but Roanoke Rapids’ Cameron Wilson scored a little later to eventually give Roanoke Rapids a 3-1 halftime lead.

Cutler scored again in the 54th minute to get the Knights within one. Junior Shane Farr and senior Zachary Holl each had one assist in Cutler’s two goals.

Eight minutes later, however, Wilson scored again for the game’s final goal as the Yellow Jackets held on for a 4-2 victory.

Currituck had lost 6-5 and tied Roanoke Rapids 3-3 in two regular season matches prior to Tuesday. Roanoke Rapids next hosts No. 5 Carrboro.

Southside 3, Camden 0: The Bruins (12-9-4) were shut out by the Seahawks (14-1) in Tuesday’s 1A NCHSAA second-round matchup.

Camden traveled to Chocowinity as the No. 11 seed in the east to face No. 6 Southside.

Senior Santiago Lengyel Serralde, junior Jaime Guzman and junior Johnathan Hernandez all scored for the Seahawks.
