Due to the expectation that the remnants of Hurricane Michael will bring inclement weather to the region, Pasquotank's home varsity football game against Bertie scheduled for Friday has been postponed to Friday, Nov. 9 at Pasquotank.

The contest is a Northeastern Coastal Conference matchup.

Both teams are scheduled to return to action on Oct. 19 as Pasquotank (3-4, 0-1 NCC) travels to Kill Devil Hills to face First Flight, while Bertie (4-2, 1-0 NCC) will host Northeastern.

BOYS SOCCER

Albemarle School 2, Pungo Christian 1: The Colts won their opening-round match at the TIC tournament Monday.

Donovan Sherlock scored Albemarle's first goal off of Logan Dunn's assist. Brandon Jackson scored the second goal to put Albemarle in the lead. Brandon Gilliam made 17 saves, several of which were impressive jumps and dives.

Pasquotank 3, Northeastern 2, OT: Pasquotank defeated Northeastern at home in overtime on Monday. Chase Perry had two goals on the evening for Pasquotank.

Jalen Haist had two assists and Mateo Perez chipped in with an assist as well.

Chandler Walton scored the game-winning goal in the first overtime period to solidify the win for the Panthers (6-2-2, 2-2-0 Northeastern Coastal Conference) in the league match.

Northeastern (6-5-2, 1-3-0 NCC) is scheduled to host First Flight today.

First Flight 2, Currituck 1, OT: The Knights (6-5-2, 3-1-0 NCC) fell to the Nighthawks in a league match at First Flight Monday.

Ryan VanKirk scored off of a Raymond Venham assist for the Knights.

Noah Cutler, Jesse Dongarra and Connor Goins were standout performers in the match.

Currituck coach Lori Davis noted that the entire team played their hearts out.

Trent Powell scored two goals, while Wade Denzin had an assist for First Flight (10-1-0, 4-0-0 NCC), which moves into first place in the conference.

Gates 4, Camden 1: The Bruins (7-6-4, 4-4-0 Albemarle Athletic Conference) lost the league match at Gates Monday.

The Red Barons (5-7-1, 4-4-0 AAC) host Manteo Wednesday.

John A. Holmes 4, Perquimans 1: On Monday evening at Purser Fields, the Aces (8-7-1, 4-3-0 Albemarle Athletic Conference) dispatched Perquimans in workman-like fashion.

The visitors managed to deflect the Aces' assaults for much of the first half, and they mounted some forays into the Aces' half, but the Pirates couldn't contrive a single shot in the stanza against Edenton's defense. Despite plenty of time before the Pirates' goal, the Aces couldn't crack the ice until the 13th minute, when Jonathan Bermudez from 18-yards drove one low and to the right side through a congested box to billow the bag. At the half, Perquimans held within striking distance, at 1-0.

In the second half the Aces found their stride and pressured the visitors' goal almost continuously. With comfortable possession, the Aces probed and swung the ball, utilizing depth and width.

At about the 40th minute, Marsel Zidan coolly slotted a ball past the keeper from eight yards off a lovely assist played through by Jonathan Salinas.

A few minutes later, Bermudez again found the back of the net, this time from short range on a play assisted by Zidan. And near the 65th minute, Salinas ran through, neatly collected a deft wall pass from Bermudez, to complete the Aces scoring with a well-placed finish.

The Pirates did manage one goal on a quick late counter on their only shot of the match, but it was too little and too late and the final tally read Aces 4-1 Pirates.
