ETTRICK, Va. — The Elizabeth City State football team lost to Virginia State 41-19 Saturday afternoon at Rogers Stadium.

The contest was a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Northern Division matchup.

ECSU (1-3, 0-2 CIAA) trimmed a 27-12 halftime deficit to 27-19 following a Kedrick Patterson 10-yard touchdown pass to Dajuan Greene.

The turning point occurred in the fourth quarter when Greene fumbled a VSU punt and Virginia State (3-2, 3-0 CIAA) recovered the ball inside ECSU territory.

The Trojans took advantage and scored on a Daniel Reid 9-yard touchdown run to take a 34-19 lead.

Patterson completed 8 of 28 passes for 113 yards with two touchdowns and was sacked seven times.

Greene led ECSU with 49 receiving yards and two scores, while Deshon Saunders rushed for 90 yards.

Cordelral Cook led VSU with 250 passing yards and two touchdowns to go with two rushing scores in the win.

Up next, the Vikings travel to Pennsylvania to take on Lincoln (Pa.) next Saturday.

Toniya Scott led Johnson & Wales (12-9, 2-0 Eastern Metro Athletic Conference) with eight kills, while Kendall Watson posted 20 digs in the league match.

MACU falls to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the EMAC.
