Currituck's Kamryn Johnson excels on summer beach volleyball circuit
The Currituck senior competed in multiple tournaments this summer

It was a busy summer for Currituck County High School volleyball player Kamryn Johnson.
Johnson, a three-time Northeastern Coastal Conference Player of the Year, competed in multiple beach volleyball national tournaments in recent weeks.
The competitions were primarily held in California and Florida with stops in Georgia and Texas.
Johnson, a Stetson University (Fla.) commit, played with four different partners with two being her future teammates at Stetson.
The other two partners were commits to the University of South Carolina and Stanford University.
Johnson finished in second place with teammate and Stetson University signee Isabel Gonzalez at the ROXVB Under-18 Gold tournament on July 29.
The tournament featured 24 teams in the gold bracket.
She along with teammate Peyton Gray finished third out of 136 teams at the California Beach Volleyball Association Under-18 tournament at Pacific Palisades, California on July 18.
Johnson and Gray took sixth place at the AAU Beach West Coast Junior Olympic Games Under-18 tournament on July 19-22 in Santa Monica, California.
Johnson along with Shea Henson took second at the Florida Beach Volleyball Tour Girls Under-18 Open in Pompano Beach, Florida on June 30 – July 1.
Johnson and Gonzalez took 22nd place out of 125 teams at the AAU Girls Junior Beach Nationals.
Johnson, who is set to begin her senior season with the Currituck indoor volleyball team next week, also was a member of the Lady Knights beach volleyball team this spring.
She along with Kayleigh Reagan Smith advanced to the North Carolina High School Sand Volleyball Association Best Pairs tournament in Wilmington in May.
Johnson and the Currituck indoor volleyball team opens the 2018 season on Aug. 16 against Denbigh (Va.).
