CAMDEN — Camden was led by a strong performance at the plate and in the circle from Hailey Bunting, as the Lady Bruins defeated Manteo 12-2 in five innings in an Albemarle Athletic Conference game at home Friday.
Bunting, a sophomore, finished the game with three runs batted in and two runs scored, while pitching a complete game, allowing one hit and two runs over five innings along with 11 strikeouts.
Cailey Byrum led Camden (11-1, 8-1 AAC) with three runs scored, while Briana Bratton, Kayla Russell and Skylar Hyatt all added two runs apiece for the Lady Bruins.
Hyatt added an RBI, as Morgan Nash had one RBI and one run scored, and Carleigh Simmons finished with two runs batted in and one run scored.
Camden has now one nine games in a row and continues AAC action on the road against Plymouth Tuesday.
Perquimans 16, Gates 6 (6): The Lady Pirates picked up a 16-6 win in six innings over the Lady Red Barons in an Albemarle Athletic Conference game in Gatesville Friday.
McCrae Knapp led Perquimans (12-5, 8-1 AAC) with five runs scored and one run batted in.
Carly Elliot added three runs and one RBI, while Macy Denson, Abby Todd and Faith Christian all scored two runs apiece in the win.
Todd, Denson and Christian also led the Lady Pirates with two RBIs each.
Perquimans hosts AAC foe Manteo on Tuesday.
Currituck 15, Northeastern 2 (6): The Lady Knights defeated the Lady Eagles 15-2 in six innings in a Northeastern Coastal Conference game on Friday at Northeastern.
Jessica Smith and Kylee Schojan led Currituck (8-3, 4-0 NCC) with four runs scored apiece, as Smith drove in one run and Schojan drove in a pair of runs.
Ashlyn Richards and Lauren Gerni each recorded a pair of RBIs, as Lauren Wiggins and Michelle Mixon each scored two runs.
Northeastern (4-6, 1-3 NCC) had runs scored by Taylor Thomas and Love Ott in the loss.
Layla Cartwright pitched six innings on the mound for the Lady Knights, allowing just two runs on two hits with four strikeouts.
Currituck hosts Pasquotank for an NCC game Tuesday, as Northeastern returns to action Monday for a non-conference game against Edenton.
Unity Christian Academy 16, Albemarle School 0 (4): The Lady Colts were defeated 16-0 in four innings by Unity Christian Academy at South Park Sports Complex Friday.
Albemarle School (1-5) returns to action against Hobgood Academy Thursday.
John A. Holmes 13, Plymouth 1 (4): The Aces jumped out to a 9-0 lead after one inning on their way to a 13-1 win in four innings in game one of an Albemarle Athletic Conference doubleheader against Plymouth at Hicks field Friday.
Edenton (7-8, 5-3 AAC) was led by senior Jaden Bobbitt with two runs batted in and one run scored in the win.
Harrison Powell, Wes Privott and Ethan Hughson each added one RBI for the Aces, as 12 different Edenton players scored a run in the conference win.
Jaden Bobbitt and Chris Morris each pitched two innings on the mound, combining for a no-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts apiece.
John A. Holmes 23, Plymouth 0 (4): The Aces continued their strong play in game two of the AAC doubleheader, taking a 17-0 lead on the way to a 23-0 win in four innings.
Ben Ward went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Aces with four runs driven in and two runs scored, while Lincoln Ellis also recorded four RBIs and came in to score two runs.
Ethan Hughson added three RBIs and one run scored, as Jaden Bobbitt had two RBIs and two runs, and Jesse Wilson also drove in a pair of runs.
11 different Edenton (8-8, 6-3 AAC) players scored a run in the game, led by three runs scored by Chace Kelley, Harrison Powell and Chris Morris.
Hughson pitched four innings on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out eight to record the win.
The Aces host Gates for an AAC contest Wednesday.
Ahoskie-Ridgecroft 17, Albemarle School 1: The Colts were defeated 17-1 by Ridgecroft at Knobbs Creek Recreation Center on Friday.
Albemarle School (1-4) plays Hobgood Academy on Thursday at Knobbs Creek.
Manteo 10, Camden 1: Camden fell 10-1 at home against Albemarle Athletic Conference foe Manteo Friday.
The Bruins (4-11, 1-8 AAC) Travel to Plymouth for a conference clash Tuesday.
Perquimans 2, Gates 1: The Pirates recorded a key Albemarle Athletic Conference win by defeating the Red Barons 2-1 on the road Friday.
Perquimans (14-3, 8-1 AAC) defeated Gates for the second straight game after a defeat at the hands of their conference rival at the Easter tournament.
The Pirates trailed 1-0 after the second, but scored a run in the fifth to tie the game at 1-1 and took the lead with a run in the top of the sixth.
Perquimans continues AAC play on Tuesday at home against Manteo.
Currituck 4, Northeastern 3: The Knights defeated the Eagles 4-3 in a Northeastern Coastal Conference contest Friday night at Northeastern.
Currituck (11-4, 4-0 NCC) won their fourth straight game after their only loss of the season at the hands of Perquimans in the Easter tournament.
Cole Bates led the Knights with two runs batted in, while Cannon Pickell and Liam Schuster each recorded one RBI.
William Langley scored two runs for Currituck in the win, as Pickell and Schuster added one run apiece.
On the mound, the Knights earned a stellar performance from Pickell, as the sophomore went five innings, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out eight.
Currituck hosts Pasquotank for a conference contest Tuesday, while Northeastern (2-8, 0-4 NCC) returns to action Tuesday for a NCC road contest against Bertie.
Hertford County 7, Pasquotank 4: Pasquotank fell 7-4 on the road in a Northeastern Coastal Conference game against Hertford County on Friday.
The Panthers (2-14, 0-4 NCC) travel to Currituck for an NCC game Tuesday.
