The Northeastern boys tennis team won their first match of the season by defeating Edenton on Wednesday.

Northeastern head coach April Rowe said she was proud of her team’s effort against a tough team in poor weather conditions.

Taylor Carter, LP Hornthal, Michael Carter, David Kleinschuster and Alex Kockler all won their singles matches for the Eagles.

Rowe credited Carter’s win against William Whichard for getting the rest of the team going in the match.

Kleinschuster and Kockler also combined to win their doubles match for Northeastern.

Nev Duruman and Whichard won their doubles match for Edenton.

The Aces also earned a doubles win from Wilson Mason and Evans Mason.

The Eagles host First Flight March 13 for their first Northeastern Coastal Conference match of the season.


Camden 10, Pasquotank 0: The Bruins defeated the Panthers for the second time this season, winning 10-0 at home Wednesday.

Camden (2-0) was led by Reed Griffith and Dallas Trevena with two runs scored and two RBIs each.

Pasquotank (0-4) was held to just two hits in the loss.

John A. Holmes 10, Bertie 4: The Aces scored eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to defeat the Falcons 10-4 at home Wednesday.

Edenton (1-1) was led by freshman Chris Morris, who went 2-for-4 at the plate with four runs driven in.

Chace Kelley scored a team-high three runs in the game.

Edenton will host Camden today in an Albemarle Athletic Conference clash at 5 p.m.


Bertie at John A. Holmes, ppd.: The game was postponed between the Lady Aces and Lady Falcons and no make up date has been announced.

Northeastern at John A. Holmes, ppd.: The game was postponed due to field conditions and was set to be made up on Thursday evening in Edenton.


Northeastern 0, Camden 0: The Lady Eagles and Lady Bruins played to a scoreless draw on Wednesday evening at Camden.

Camden (0-0-1) hosts Community Christian Saturday at 4 p.m.

Northeastern (0-0-1) hosts South Brunswick Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

First Flight at John A. Holmes, ppd: The game between the Lady Nighthawks and Lady Aces in Edenton was postponed due to wet field conditions.

A potential make up date for the game is set for April 9.
