JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Mid-Atlantic Christian men’s and women’s basketball teams both came away with wins Thursday on the first day of the Bible College NIT in Jacksonville, Fla.

The men’s team got the day started off with a 74-55 win over Dayspring Bible College, as the women’s team followed by defeating host Trinity Baptist College 68-56.

In the men’s game, MACU led 34-30 at the half, but outscored the Eagles 40-25 in the second half.

The Mustangs were led by DaQuon Copeland with 15 points in the victory.

Grayson Tejada added 12 points while Dixon Ogwo and Alex Stanley each scored 10 points for the Mustangs.

Ogwo pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while Stanley added eight boards.

On the women’s side, MACU was led by a 21-point performance from Tierra Lester.

Lester finished the game 6-of-13 from the field and went 9-of-9 from the free throw line.

Cierra Cook added 17 points for the Lady Mustangs, while Talethia Alexander also finished in double figures with 15 points.

MACU used strong play on the defensive end to take a 22-10 lead at halftime.

The Lady Mustangs led by as many as 17 points in the second half.

Both teams return to action today against Trinity College, as the men play at 4 p.m. and the women’s game is set for 8 p.m.
