FAYETTEVILLE — The Elizabeth City State softball team lost to Fayetteville State 9-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The contest was a part of a Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association softball roundup at Seabrook Park.

ECSU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Fayetteville State responded with three runs in the bottom of the frame.

Bertie product Kelsey White led the Lady Vikings with two hits, Casey Cartwright and Kayley Surrento each had a hit, while Lashika Basnight was credited with an RBI.

Courtney Pierre led the Lady Broncos with two hits and two RBIs in the win.

Bowie State 7, ECSU 0: The Lady Vikings were held to three hits in the loss on Friday at the CIAA roundup at Petersburg, Virginia.

The contest was a makeup of a game that was postponed on April 22.

Surrento had two hits with a double and a stolen base, while Basnight had a hit for ECSU.

Emily Lewis had a hit with two RBIs for Bowie State.

After winning two CIAA games at Lincoln (Pa.) on April 23, the Lady Vikings look for another win on Sunday in the league with a matchup at Winston-Salem State today at noon.

The contest at Winston-Salem is the scheduled regular-season finale for ECSU before the CIAA Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Thursday.
