The board of advisors of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation has announced the establishment of the Pailin Nicole Cheeks Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The fund will support the Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies with annual scholarships to NEAAAT graduating seniors, according to Natalie Jenkins Peel, NCCF regional director serving the northeast.
Andrew Harris, CEO of NEAAAT, fondly remembered Cheeks’ smile and positive demeanor, recalling, “Pailin was a light to all those who knew her and we are honored to celebrate her legacy, now and forever, through the Pailin Nicole Cheeks Memorial Scholarship Fund,” he said. “Annual scholarships made possible through this fund will have a lasting impact on NEAAAT students and their families for many generations to come."
“We are grateful to hold this special fund that will provide much needed scholarships to NEAAAT students in our region,” Peel said. “The North Carolina Community Foundation is proud to work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
Tax-deductible contributions, made payable to the Pailin Nicole Cheeks Memorial Scholarship Fund, can be mailed to the North Carolina Community Foundation, 204 S. Poindexter Street Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Contributions can also be made online at nccommunityfoundation.org. Please include the name of the fund when making a gift.

School head Harris completes doctorate degree
Dr. Andrew Harris, NEAAAT CEO, was recently awarded a Doctorate of Education in Education Leadership from East Carolina University.
Joe Peel, chairman of the board of directors for NEAAAT announced the achievement.
“We are so fortunate to have Dr. Harris leading our school. His dedication to and love for the children in our region is demonstrated daily through his tireless work and innovative approach to their education,” Peel said. “He and the staff he has assembled are providing our children a truly world class 21st century education. Through this accomplishment he has demonstrated to our students that one’s learning is never finished.”
