DAR Essay Winners Honored

The Edenton Tea Party Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution recently met during a luncheon to honor students who competed in the organization’s annual essay contest.

Students recognized for their winning essays are: Catherine Howell, D.F. Walker Elementary, Rebecca Dardinski, Chowan Middle School and Chasity Pate, John A. Holmes High School Good Citizen Award.


NCWorks certification goes to J.A. Holmes

NCWorks presented Casey Bass, Director of Secondary Education and Career and Technical Education for Edenton-Chowan Schools with the Advanced Manufacturing Local Implementation Certification for John A. Holmes High School.

This is the second NCWorks certification for John A. Holmes High School which was the first high school in the region to be recognized last year for Advanced Certification in Health Care Careers.

NCWorks Certified Career Pathways has 27 pathways certified across the state. This initiative has eight criteria to qualify: It must be demand-driven and data informed; employer engagement; collaborative; career awareness; articulation and coordination; work-based learning; multiple points of entry and exit including non-degree training and the final evaluation.
