Buffaloe to speak at Christ Episcopal

Philadelphia MBC. Pastor Tyrone Smith of New Providence Church will be the speaker for the trustees, deacons and deaconesses’ anniversary at 2 p.m.

Samuel Chapel MBC. The church will host a “Love” celebration event for Deaconess Andrea Taylor Combs at 2 p.m.

Eastern Star COCIG. Pastor Tony Rice of New Beginning Fellowship Church will be the speaker for the service at 4 p.m.

Christ Episcopal. Eddie Buffaloe, Elizabeth City chief of police, will be the speaker for the church’s celebration of Absalom Jones, the first African-American priest in the Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m.


Christ Episcopal. The women of the church will present a “Hearts and Flowers” card party and luncheon from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 200 South McMorrine Street. The event will feature board games, a meal with dessert. Tickets are $25 and available at the volunteer office. Contact: 338-1686.


Eastern Star COGIC. Pastor Elder Wilbert Tatem of Soul Chain Ministries Church of God in Christ in Edenton will be the speaker for the service at 7 p.m.


Mt. Lebanon AME Zion. The church’s Men of Zion Ministry will host its 4th annual Sports Challenge and Student Recognition Banquet Saturday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. Gregory Harrell, who played in the NFL for both the San Diego Chargers and Los Angeles Raiders, will be the speaker. Providence MBC. Joyce M. Mitchell, president of the Democratic Women of North Carolina, will be the speaker for the church’s annual Black History Month celebration Sunday, Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. Attendees encouraged to wear African attire.

Nation After God. Eric Anthony Sheppard, a descendant of Moses Grandy, the former slave born in Camden County who went on become an author and abolitionist, will be the speaker at a Black History Month program, Sunday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m.

Eastern Star Church of God In Christ. The church offers pastoral teaching sessions every Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Hertford UMC. The Lord’s Table Soup Kitchen is held in the fellowship hall every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Greater Faith Assembly of Christ. The church holds weekly worship services every Saturday with Sabbath School at 11 a.m. and Sabbath worship at 12:30 p.m.
