Eagles fall to Reidsville in state championship

RALEIGH — The Northeastern football team lost to the Reidsville Rams 31-28 Saturday afternoon in the 2A NCHSAA state championship game.

Reidsville, who finished the year 16-0, kicked a 24-yard field goal with four seconds remaining in the game to take home its 20th state championship trophy.

The Eagles, who were making their first state championship appearance since 2010, led the game 21-7 at halftime. Northeastern finished the season with a 14-1 record.
