P.W. Moore Elementary School Principal Sara English has been named the new principal at Northwest Elementary School in Pitt County.
English, who is slated to start in Pitt on Sept. 21, was named principal at P.W. Moore Elementary in May 2016.
Last year P.W. Moore received an “F” on the state’s school performance grades but in the recently released report the school had improved to a “D.”
“My time at P.W. Moore has been one of tremendous professional and personal growth,” English said in a statement released by the Pitt County Schools. “I will always carry the staff and students at P.W. Moore in my heart and will miss working with them very much. However, I am thrilled to join the Northwest Elementary Tigers and have heard nothing but amazing things about both the students and staff there. I am honored to have been selected as the principal for Northwest and look forward jumping in with both feet to continue the excellent work that is already in place there.”
English holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree in school administration from N.C. State University. She taught fifth-grade a total of 10 years in Texas and Wake County.
English became an assistant principal at Mills Park Middle School in Wake County in 2010 and later worked as an elementary instructional coach and instructional technology coach with the District and School Transformation Division of the N.C. Department of Public Instruction.
