Elizabeth City police are investigating a shooting incident that sent two men to the hospital, neither of whom is cooperating with authorities.
Officer Lamont Butts of the Elizabeth City Police Department said officers responded to a shots-fired report in the 500 block of Edge Street about 11:59 Thursday.
No sooner had officers arrived and began looking for potential victims and witnesses than they received a report at 12:02 a.m. Friday of two men showing up at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center with gunshot wounds, Butts said.
Both Alexander Johnson and Ronrico Cummings were transported to the hospital by an unknown person in a private vehicle, Butts said.
Johnson suffered a gunshot to his right buttock while Cummings suffered an injury to his left eye and possibly a broken right arm, Butts said.
Neither victim is cooperating with law enforcement about who shot them or why, Butts said.
He said police are not releasing further details about the incident.
He urged anyone with information about Johnson’s and Cummings’ shootings to call police at 335-4321 or the Crime Line at 335-5555.
