Sheriff IDs man wanted in father's shooting

The Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office has identified a Pitt County man wanted for allegedly shooting his father during a dispute at his father’s residence on Saturday.
Deonte Stokley, 29, of the 3000 block of Sterling Point, Winterville, is wanted in connection with the shooting of Johnnie Johnson at Johnson’s home in the 600 block of Crooked Run Road, Elizabeth City, a press release from the Pasquotank Sheriff’s Office states.
According to the release, Stokely is wanted on charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony discharge of a weapon in an occupied dwelling.
Cartwright’s release said a second suspect in Johnson’s shooting has been arrested. She’s been identified as Racquel Gibbs, 34, also of the 3000 block of Sterling Point, Winterville. Gibbs was arrested in Greenville and charged with felony and abetting a crime, the release states. She was released after posting a $25,000 secured bond.
Pasquotank Sheriff Randy Cartwright said Saturday a man was shot in his groin area by his son during a family dispute, and that the son was gone by the time deputies arrived at the victim’s house.
Cartwright, who declined to identify either the victim or his alleged assailant on Saturday, said in his department’s press release Monday that Johnson remains hospitalized in stable condition. Cartwright reported Saturday that Johnson was being treated at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he was airlifted after the shooting.
Cartwright said Saturday that Stokley will be charged when he’s located.
