An Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools bus en route to Northeastern High School was involved in a minor accident Wednesday.

None of the 17 students aboard the bus or the bus’s driver were injured in the incident, a school spokeswoman said.

The accident happened as a car in the turn lane near the intersection of Weeksville and River roads attempted to pass the bus and scraped the bus’s rear bumper, district spokeswoman Tammy Sawyer said.

Parents of the students aboard the bus were contacted by school officials and the accident scene was quickly cleared by law enforcement, Sawyer said.

It was not immediately clear whether there were any injuries to any motorists involved in the incident.

Elizabeth City police said a press release on the accident is forthcoming.
