Through her own words, Rhonda Twiddy will share her story and inspire others at the 1st Annual Women’s Conference.

“It is important for women to take this day and focus on themselves,” said Twiddy, the EMCEE and breakout speaker at the event.

Twiddy will utilize the tagline “finding your place,” encouraging both women and men who attend the event to “think about where they want to be.”

Whether it is business, family or health and wellness, Twiddy encourages people to find their place in life.

While Twiddy said she has always enjoyed public speaking, this is the first time she has shared her own story at an event.

After the loss of her husband, David, five years ago, Twiddy said she was faced with a “huge challenge.”

“It leaves you in a place you don’t know how to navigate,” said Twiddy. “You are never prepared for that loss.”

Twiddy said it is important to “lean on people.”

“One of the greatest resources are the people in our lives,” said Twiddy.

Twiddy said one of her favorite sayings is a quote she discovered on Pinterest.

“What defines us is how well we rise after falling.”

A real estate broker with Long & Foster Real Estate of Elizabeth City, Twiddy works with people to help them “find their place.”

The 1st Annual Women’s Conference is presented by the Eastern Women’s Entrepreneurship Center and will be held on Oct. 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Arts of the Albemarle. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

A fundraiser benefiting Albemarle Hopeline will be held the preceding night on Oct. 19 at the AoA from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“This kind of day will bring so many people together,” said Twiddy.

Twiddy served as the president of the Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce for 16 years. Twiddy also previously served as the executive director of Arts of the Albemarle.

Twiddy is a member of the Elizabeth City Morning Rotary Club and a board member of the Eastern Women’s Entrepreneurship Center. Twiddy serves as the secretary of the First Flight Society and is the chairperson of the Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Tourism Development Authority board of directors.

Twiddy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading and yoga.
